  2. Aphids are driving me CRAZY right now. I am planning on buying some ladybugs this weeks and releasig them on the fire escape. I would use the whole trap plant thing, but since they are all on the tomatoes on the fire escape, and I want to keep them of my citrus plants, there really isn't a good place for trap plants. The aphids have gotten so bad though that I even saw a couple on my marigolds. They are truly out of control this season.

  3. They are! Look, my trap plant is a complete surprise. It wasn't intentional, it just happened that way. Let me tell you about the rose trap plant! I think it is just a matter of having plants that can be sacrificed to the aphids. These broccoli, with heads already cut seem to be perfect for trapping aphids, or is it increasing aphids. Aphids are like tornados -neighboring house is perfectly fine and yours is destroyed. Aphids all over one rose, not at all on the other. Soap sprays work, plus shooting with strong water or straight out squishing with fingers.

  4. Thankfully all my strawberries were put in the area facing the courtyard (to keep away from squirrels and birds) and was able to get rid of aphids there pretty quickly and kepp them under control. But the fire escape is never ending! The squirrel is leaving everything and I kind of wish I could just trade back to the squirrel. I did make a spray of water/soap/canola oil and it kills them, but the flower buds that get sprayed have been falling off the cherry tomato.

If I do not respond to your comment right away, it is only because I am busy pulling out buckthorn, creeping charlie, and garlic mustard...
