The Lilac Wasp

Years ago, now, I removed the lilac tree growing scraggedly against the house. I hesitated to remove it as it was a favorite of a large, ground nesting wasp that made a pulp of its cambium or sapwood. Since removing the tree, the wasps have not returned.

  2. Beautiful photos. I enjoy your thoughtful posts. We never know what creatures are displaced when we make the slightest modification. It's inevitable, I suppose. It seems that every "solution" we come up with for some problem in our garden brings with it another set of problems.
