The Lilac Wasp

Years ago, now, I removed the lilac tree growing scraggedly against the house. I hesitated to remove it as it was a favorite of a large, ground nesting wasp that made a pulp of its cambium or sapwood. Since removing the tree, the wasps have not returned.

  1. That is one serious-looking wasp! Hope 2019 is filled with good experiences and progress in re-training your acreage. Happy New Year!

    1. Thanks Webb. Happy New Year to you and thank you for reading! New Post to come soon!

  2. Beautiful photos. I enjoy your thoughtful posts. We never know what creatures are displaced when we make the slightest modification. It's inevitable, I suppose. It seems that every "solution" we come up with for some problem in our garden brings with it another set of problems.

If I do not respond to your comment right away, it is only because I am busy pulling out buckthorn, creeping charlie, and garlic mustard...
